October 2025 Holiday Dates Reminder

The dates for China's 2025 public holidays were announced all the way back in November last year, so it may well be the case that you've forgotten the exact details for the upcoming holiday.

The last two public holidays of the year are the Mid-Autumn Festival, the date of which changes each year according to the lunar calendar, and the National Holiday, aka Golden Week, which takes place from Oct 1 to 7 each year.

This year, Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Oct 6, and as this is during the National Holiday, an additional day off has been given on Oct 8, meaning the final holiday of 2025 will run from Wed, Oct 1, to Wed, Oct 8, making Golden Week a blissful eight-day-long holiday!

Now, as always, this holiday comes with the inevitable make-up days, which will fall on Sun, Sep 28, and Sat, Oct 11. For a clearer picture of when the days off and make-up days are, you can take a look at the graphics below.

If you're planning on booking trips during this time, don't forget the earlier the better! For those going somewhere by train, although train tickets only go on sale 15 days in advance, you can use apps like Trip to reserve spots. However, be mindful that reserving tickets isn't a 100 percent guarantee that you'll get them. In the event that your reservation is unsuccessful, most apps will give you a full refund, but be sure to check the specific terms and conditions for whichever app you use when booking.

Happy holidaying!
