Victory Day 2025: Updated Parks, Museums and Other Closures

Following our recent post about traffic, subway and location closures this week as China commemorates the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, we have updated our list of temporary venue and site closures. Below, you can see our latest list of some of the city's parks, museums, temples, and other sites that will experience temporary closure this week.

Keep in mind that the situation may change and more sites may publish temporary closure announcements. The list below is not an exhaustive list. During this period, it is recommended that you double-check the opening details of specific parks, museums, buildings and other spots around the city before visiting.

The following information is current as of Sep 1, 2025.


Parks and Scenic Spots

Tiantan Park (天坛公园)

The park will see partial closures:

  • Parking lot at East Gate will be closed all day Sep 2.
  • The area from the East Gate to East Gate 2 will close at noon on Sep 2.

These areas of the park will reopen when possible on Sep 3. During the closure period, please enter and exit the park through the North, South, and West gates.

On Sep 3, the opening of the Hall for Prayer of Good Harvests (祈年殿), the Echo Wall (回音壁), and the Circular Mound Altar (圆丘) will be delayed until noon. Those with tickets to visit these sites should wait until after opening to visit, or they may refund their tickets through the original ticket-purchasing channel.

Beihai Park (北海公园临)
On Sep 2, the park will stop entrance ticket sales at 4pm and will close at 6pm. On Sep 3 at 3pm, the East and North gates of the park, as well as the east gate of Jingxinzhai Garden, will reopen normally. Beihai Park’s South and West gates, as well as the Tuancheng scenic area, will reopen in a timely manner according to the surrounding conditions.

Jingshan Park (景山公园)
On Sep 2, the park will stop entrance ticket sales at 4pm and will close at 6pm. On Sep 3 at 3pm, the East and West gates of the park will reopen. The South Gate will reopen according to surrounding conditions.

Taoranting Park (陶然亭公园)
On Sep 3, the park will be closed in the morning and will reopen at noon.

Beijing Yuyuantan Park (玉渊潭公园)
On Sep 3, the park will be closed in the morning and will reopen at noon.

Zhongshan Park (中山公园)
The park is closed from Aug 31 to Sep 3. It will reopen at a suitable time on Sep 4.

Chaoyang Park (朝阳公园)
The park will be closed from Sep 2 at 10pm until Sep 3 at noon.

Longtan Zhonghu Park (龙潭中湖公园)
The park will be closed on Sep 3 from 6am to noon.

Longtan Xihu Park (龙潭西湖公园)
The park will be closed on Sep 3 from 6am to noon.

Beijing Chaoyang Honglingjin Park (北京市朝阳区红领中公园)
The park will be closed from Sep 2 at 10pm until Sep 3 at noon.

Lotus Park (莲花池公园)
The park will be closed from Sep 2 at 10pm until Sep 3 at noon.

Beijing Ming City Wall Ruins Park (北京明城墙遗址公园)
The park will be closed on Sep 3 from 5am to noon.

Grand Canal Cultural Tourism Scenic Area and Xihaizi Park (大运河文化旅游景区 + 通州区西海子公园)
The Grand Canal Cultural Tourism Scenic Area Central District (Canal Cultural Square) and Xihaizi Park in Tongzhou will be closed on Sep 3 from midnight to noon.


Museums, Temples, Memorials, Markets, and Hospitals

Beijing Hospital (北京医院)
Outpatient services on Sep 3 are suspended. Emergency and fever clinic services maintain 24-hour consultation. 

Yonghegong Lama Temple (雍和宫)
The temple will be closed Sep 3 and will re-open on Sep 4.

Beijing Guanghua Temple (广化寺)
The Temple will be closed on Sep 3 and will resume normal operations on Sep 4.

Beijing Tianning Temple (天宁寺)
The temple will be closed to the public on Sep 3. It will reopen normally on Sep 4.

Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall (北京市规划展览馆)
The site is closed from Aug 31 to Sep 3.

Chinese Museum of Nationalities in Beijing (北京中华民族博物院)
The museum will be closed Sep 2 and Sep 3. Those who have purchased tickets may obtain refunds through the original ticket-purchasing channel.

Panjiayuan Antique Market (潘家园旧货市场)
On Sep 2, the market will close at 6pm. On Sep 3, the market will close at 9pm. The Panjiayuan Cultural Night Market (潘家园文化夜市) will be closed for one day on Sep 3.

Beijing Luxun Museum (Beijing New Cultural Movement Memorial) (北京鲁迅博物馆) (北京新文化运动纪念馆)
The museum will be closed from Sep 1 to Sep 3. It will reopen normally on Sep 4.

Tian’anmen Square (天安门广场)
Tian’anmen Square will be closed from Sep 1 to Sep 3. It will reopen on Sep 4.

National Museum of China (中国国家博物馆)
The museum will be closed from Aug 31 to Sep 3. 

Chairman Mao Zedong Memorial Hall (毛主席纪念堂)
The hall will be closed from Aug 31 to Sep 3. It will reopen on Sep 4.

The Palace Museum (故宫博物院)
The museum will be closed from Aug 31 to Sep 4. It will reopen on Sep 5.

Arrow Building – Zhengyang Gate (正阳门箭楼)
The site will be closed from Aug 31 to Sep 3. Those who have booked tickets can cancel their reservation through the official WeChat account of the Beijing Axis Heritage Protection Center. If you do not cancel your reservation on the day of the visit, the system will automatically issue a refund for you. This will not be recorded as a no-show. 

Beijing Ancient Observatory (北京古观象台)
The observatory will be closed from Sep 1 to Sep 3. It will resume normal operating hours on Sep 4.

China Customs Museum (中国海关博物馆)
The museum will be closed from Aug 31 to Sep 3. It will resume normal operating hours on Sep 4.

Beijing Working People's Cultural Palace (劳动人民文化宫)
The site will be closed from Aug 31 to Sep 4. It will reopen on Sep 5. Visitors who have bought tickets in advance but have not entered the park, may get a refund from the original ticket-purchasing channel.

Military Museum of the Chinese People’s Revolutio (中国人民革命军事博物馆)
The museum will be closed from Sep 1 to Sep 3. 

The Capital Museum (首都博物馆)
The museum will be closed Sep 2 and Sep 3.

Prince Kung's Palace Museum (恭王府博物馆)
The museum will be closed from Aug 31 to Sep 3. It will open normally on Sep 4.
