Victory Day 2025: Traffic Measures, Subway Adjustments, Closures
The big week is almost upon us! Next week, on the morning of Sep 3, Beijing will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. While a lot of outdated information from the 2015 celebrations has been circulating recently, we have gathered up-to-date information for this year's activities below.

Traffic Management Measures
On the evening of Aug 29, the Beijing Public Safety Bureau issued the “Notice on Temporary Traffic Management Measures During the 80th Anniversary Celebration of the Victory of the Chinese People 's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.” This notice gives updated specifics related to traffic controls and transit disruptions in the Tian’anmen Square area related to the commemorative ceremony and parade activities taking place on Sep 3.
Here are the details:
From Aug 30, 6pm, to Sep 3, 2pm
Motor vehicles, non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians not affiliated with the commemoration ceremonies are prohibited from entering or passing through the following bounded area:
- North of Jinshui Qiao in front of Tiananmen Square and south of Wumen Gate of the Forbidden City, encompassing Zhongshan Park and the Labor People's Cultural Palace
- The Forbidden City and Shenwumen Outer Square
- From the Xihuamen Lu intersection (excluding) via Xihuamen Dajie, Xitongzihe Lu, Dongtongzihe Lu, Donghuamen Dajie to the Donghuamen Lu intersection (excluding)
Sep 2, 7am-9am and noon-2pm; Sep 3, 7.30pm-9pm; Sep 4, 1am-2am
Motor vehicles, non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians not affiliated with the commemoration ceremonies are prohibited from entering or passing through the following areas:
- Wennan Lu and Changliu Lu in the Changping Nankou area (Changping District)
Sep 2, 11am, to Sep 3, 10pm
Motor vehicles, non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians not affiliated with the commemoration ceremonies are prohibited from entering or passing through the following areas:
- Guangchang Xice Lu
- Renda Huitang Xilu
- Guangchang Dongce Lu
- Xinda Lu
Sep 2, 9.30pm, to Sep 3, 6pm
Motor vehicles, non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians not affiliated with the commemoration ceremonies are prohibited from entering or passing through the following bounded area:
- Northern boundary: Area bounded by Jinbao Jie, Jinyu Hutong, Dong'anmen Dajiie, Donghuamen Dajie, and heading north from the intersection of Donghuamen Dajie and Beichizi Dajie up Beichizi Dajie, Jingshan Qianjie, Wenjin Jie, and the north entrance of Fuyou Jie
- Southern boundary: Qianmen Xidajie, Qianmen Dongdajie, Chongwenmen Xidajie to Chongwenmen intersection, and then Beijing Zhan Xijie (excluding southern half), Beijing Zhan Dongjie (excluding southern half) to the east entrance of Beijing Zhan Dongjie
- Eastern boundary: The west side auxiliary road of the East Second Ring Road (excluding) to the east entrance of Jinbao Jie (excluding)
- Western boundary: The north entrance of Fuyou Jie, through Fuyou Jie and Beixinhua Jie, to the Hepingmen intersection
- Chang'an Avenue running from the south entrance of Fuyou Jie to Fuxingmen Qiao (excluding)
- Jianguomenwai Dajie from Jianguomen Qiao to Guomao Qiao (excluding)
- Qianmen Dajie and Qianmen Pedestrian Street
Residents within the area can enter on foot with valid identification documents such as ID cards.
Foreigners: We recommend you have photos of your passport, passport info page, residence permit, and electronic copies of your housing contract and housing registration information ready and accessible just in case.
Sep 2, 9.30pm, to Sep 3, 6pm

- From the intersection of Xidawang Lu and Hongmiao Lu (excluding) to Dawang Qiao (excluding) and from the intersection of Guanghua Lu and Zhenzhi Lu (excluding) to the east entrance of Guanghua Lu
Sep 3, midnight-2am
Motor vehicles, non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians not affiliated with the commemoration ceremonies are prohibited from entering or passing through the following areas:
- The East Second Ring Road route from Chaoyangmen Qiao (excluding) to Dongbianmen Qiao (excluding)
Vehicles and pedestrians can detour east and west by way of Dongsishitiao Qiao and Guangqumen Qiao.
Sep 3, 9.30am-1pm
Motor vehicles, non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians not affiliated with the commemoration ceremonies are prohibited from entering or passing through the following areas:
- Fuxingmen Qiao
- Fuxingmenwai Dajie
- Fuxingmen Lu through Muxidi Qiao to Xinxing Qiao (excluding)
Community vehicles and pedestrians can detour by way of Guang'an Lu, Zizhuyuan Lu, and Xizhimenwai Dajie.
Sep 3, 10am-11am
Motor vehicles, non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians not affiliated with the commemoration ceremonies are prohibited from entering or passing through the following areas:
- The main and auxiliary roads from Fuxingmen Qiao to Guanyuan Qiao (excluding) on the West Second Ring Qiao
Sep 3, 10am-noon
Motor vehicles, non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians not affiliated with the commemoration ceremonies are prohibited from entering or passing through the following area:
- The East Second Ring Road from Dongzhimen Qiao (excluding) to Dongbianmen Qiao (excluding)
Vehicles and pedestrians can detour east and west by way of Dongzhimenbei Qiao and Guangqumen Qiao.
Sep 3, 10.10am-11.30am
Motor vehicles, non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians not affiliated with the commemoration ceremonies are prohibited from entering or passing through the following areas:
- Ping'anli Xidajie
- Di'anmen Xidajie
- Di'anmen Dongdajie
- Zhangzizhong Lu to Dongsishitiao Qiao
Sep 3, 10.40am-12.30pm
Motor vehicles, non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians not affiliated with the commemoration ceremonies are prohibited from entering or passing through the following areas:
- Gongrentiyuchang Beilu
- Nongzhanguan Nanlu
- Chaoyang Gongyuan Nanlu
- Tianshuiyuan Jie
- Jintai Lu
Sep 3, 6pm-10pm
Motor vehicles, non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians not affiliated with the commemoration ceremonies are prohibited from entering or passing through the following areas:
- From the intersection of Chang’an Jie and Fuyou Jie (excluding) to the intersection of Chang’an Jie and Nanchizi Dajie (excluding)
During the Current Special Time
Motor vehicles and non-motorized vehicles heading to Beijing railway station can use the one-way circular traffic route moving through Dongbianmen Qiao on the East Second Ring Road, Chongwenmen Dongdajie, Beijing Zhan Xijie, Beijing Zhan Dongjie, and the East Second Ring Road.
In addition to the above-mentioned areas and roads, the traffic management bureau will take temporary traffic control measures on some roads in a timely manner according to the needs of national and foreign affairs activities.
Subway Adjustments
Some subway lines will also experience disruptions or adjustments on Sep 2 and Sep 3 due to next week’s activities.
Beijing Subway Adjustments – Sep 2
Line 1/Batong Line will end operation early, with the last train departing from Gucheng at 7.17pm and the last bus departing from Universal Beijing Resort at 7.29pm.
After the last train departs from each station of Line 1/Batong Line, some transfer stations on Line 1/Batong Line will be closed until the operation of each line ends:
- Line 2: Fuxingmen, Jianguomen
- Line 4: Xidan
- Line 5: Dongdan
- Line 8: Wangfujing
- Line 9: Military Museum
- Line 10: Guomao, Gongzhufen
- Line 14: Dawanglu
The following stations will close by (before) 9pm:
- Line 2: Qianmen, Chaoyangmen, and Jishuitan
- Line 6: Chaoyangmen
- Line 8: Zhuxinzhuang, Olympic Sports Center, Wangfujing, Qianmen, Yongdingmenwai, and Yinghai
- Line 14: Yongdingmenwai
- Line 19: Jishuitan
- Changping Line: Zhuxinzhuang
The following stations will close by (before) 9.30pm:
- Line 2: Hepingmen, Changchunjie, Xuanwumen, Chongwenmen
- Line 4: Xuanwumen
- Line 5: Dengshikou, Chongwenmen
- Line 8: Jinyu Hutong
- Line 19: Taipingqiao
Tiananmen Dong Exit D and Qianmen Exit A will be closed from 11am until the scheduled departure of the last train.
Beijing Station exits A and B will be closed from 9.30pm until the scheduled departure of the last train.
Beijing Subway Adjustments – Sep 3
A number of stations on lines 1/Batong, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 16, 17, 19 and the Changping Line will be closed from the normally scheduled departure time of the first train until various times later in the day.
Some stations will be open for a short period early in the morning before closing for varying periods of time.
A few stations will be closed all day on Sep 3 and open again at 8am on Sep 4.

Notes:
- Line 1/Batong Line and Line 8
The entire line will be closed from the scheduled departure time of the first train to at least 1.30pm. The lines will begin returning to operation from 1.30pm (except for stations with different opening times). Stations with different opening times are listed individually in the schedules below. Relevant transfer stations will also be closed and transferring will be disallowed.
- Line 2
The entire line will be closed from the scheduled departure time of the first train to at least 7.10am. The line will begin returning to operation from 7.10am (except for stations with different opening times). Stations with different opening times are listed individually in the schedules below. Relevant transfer stations will also be closed and transferring will be disallowed.
- Line 5
Segments of the line will be operational between 7.59am and 11.45am. The operating range is from Tiantongyuanbei to Hepinglibeijie, and from Tiantan Dongmen to Songjiazhuang. Relevant transfer stations in the affected sections will also be closed and transferring will be disallowed during the closure period. Outside of these sections, specific information for stations on Line 5 can be found in the tables below.
- Beijing Station exits A and B will be closed from the normally scheduled departure time of the first train to 2pm.
Venue and Site Closures
The following are a few locations that will close temporarily during this special time period. The information below is current as of Aug 30, 2025.
- Tian’anmen Square
Tian’anmen Square will be closed from Sep 1 to Sep 3. It will reopen on Sep 4. - National Museum of China
The museum will be closed from Aug 31 to Sep 3. - Chairman Mao Zedong Memorial Hall
The hall will be closed from Aug 31 to Sep 3. It will reopen on Sep 4. - The Palace Museum
The museum will be closed from Aug 31 to Sep 4. It will reopen on Sep 5. - Arrow Building – Zhengyang Gate
The site will be closed from Aug 31 to Sep 3. Those who have booked tickets can cancel their reservation through the official WeChat account of the Beijing Axis Heritage Protection Center. If you do not cancel your reservation on the day of the visit, the system will automatically issue a refund for you. This will not be recorded as a no-show. - Beijing Ancient Observatory
The observatory will be closed from Sep 1 to Sep 3. It will resume normal operating hours on Sep 4. - China Customs Museum
The museum will be closed from Aug 31 to Sep 3. It will resume normal operating hours on Sep 4. - Beijing Workers Cultural Palace
The site will be closed from Aug 31 to Sep 4. It will reopen on Sep 5. Visitors who have bought tickets in advance but have not entered the park, may get a refund from the original ticket-purchasing channel. - Chinese People's Revolutionary Military Museum
The museum will be closed from Sep 1 to Sep 3. - The Capital Museum
The museum will be closed Sep 2 and Sep 3. - Prince Kung's Palace Museum
The museum will be closed from Aug 31 to Sep 3. It will open normally on Sep 4. - Parks and Other Sites
While locations in the city outside of the sites and the central area defined in detail above are unlikely to be affected, conditions can always change. During this “special time,” it is recommended that you double-check the opening details of specific parks, museums, buildings and other spots around the city before visiting.
Airspace Restrictions
In July of this year, nine of Beijing’s 16 districts were designated as restricted airspace in preparation for next week’s parade:
- Dongcheng
- Xicheng
- Chaoyang
- Haidian
- Fengtai
- Shijingshan
- Tongzhou
- Changping
- Mentougou
On Aug 29, the city’s remaining seven districts were added to the restricted airspace area.
- Daxing
- Shunyi
- Fangshan
- Pinggu
- Huairou
- Miyun
- Yanqing
The restricted airspace control measures will last until midnight Sep 4. During this time, except for approved, all unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), traversing aircraft, kites, balloons, kongming lanterns and other objects that may affect flight safety are prohibited from taking off and landing in the newly added airspace restriction area.
Pigeons and other birds being raised in Tongzhou must be caged from 6am to 5pm and may not be released. Pigeons and other birds being raised in the other eight of the first batch of districts must be caged from 6am to 4pm and may not be released.
Airport Closures and Flights
On Sep 3, from 9.30am to 12.30pm, a restricted zone will be in effect on Beijing’s airspace, with all aircraft prohibited from entering the zone. During this time, all flights at Beijing Capital International Airport will be suspended.
Expect and prepare for changes to departure and arrival times. Inbound and outbound flights may see delayed departure/arrival or flight time increases of 20-40 minutes.
