Art Attack: Creators Project, Access Chollywood and City of God

This week, get lost in art and music of the future at the Creators Project, learn more about who’s bending over backwards for whom in the Chollywood world, and catch up on Brazilian film, the faces of China and more.

Creators Project takes place at UCCA this weekend. The big draw is LCD Soundsystem, but there’s also plenty of film, art and overall innovation to enjoy. The event requires RSVP, so head here to check in.

Culture Yard’s hosting a series exploring China’s BRIC cousin, Brazil, through the lens of cinema. This week (as in tonight) they’re screening the electric City of God.

Some of you have been following the slow tango of China’s and the US’ film industries climbing into bed with one another. If so, you might be interested that, in advance of the film Looper’s release here in China, media have been spotlighting Dan Mintz, one of the people who’s found himself in precisely the right place at the right time. Learn more about the crackerjack co-productionist here at the Guardian and here at Forbes.

If you follow Beijing’s foreign correspondents with fervor, you won’t want to miss the talk on Tuesday at The Bookworm. Evan Osnos, Christina Larson and Ian Johnson, to name a few, have all contributed to a new book, Chinese Characters, which looks at the everyday faces of China. It’s not entirely confirmed which authors will be at the talk, but if you’re mighty curious, call the Bookworm for updates. Details below.

There’s also a new film series held at Dada, Electric Shadows celebrating its anniversary with the best of its first year, and art exhibits, both new and closing up. As always, see below for more.
