Beer Happenings: Slowboat's IPA Week and Jing-A's 8x8 Return

Prepare to get boozy in the coming weeks with the return of Slowboat's IPA Week and Jing-A's 8x8 Brewing Project.

Slowboat's 11th Annual IPA Week

From Sep 5 to 14, Slowboat's Annual IPA Week will be returning to the capital for its 11th edition, and this time it's bigger and better than ever! This year will see a staggering 30 different IPAs being offered on tap across all of Slowboat's five locations. There will be ten Slowboat IPAs, ten IPAs from a variety of Chinese breweries, and, in a new twist for this edition, ten IPAs from international breweries. 

Each day, three beers will be on special discount: Slowboat IPAs will be RMB 35, Chinese guest IPAs will be RMB 40 and international IPAs will be RMB 50. You'll have to be quick, though, because there will only be two kegs of the Chinese guest beers and one keg each of the international guest beers at each location. 

Along with the guest IPAs and special discounts during IPA Week, Slowboat will also be offering guided IPA tasting and brewery tours at their Maizidian branch. There will be three different sessions taking place: Sun, Sep 7, at 3pm; Mon, Sep 8, at 6.30pm and Wed, Sep 10, at 6.30pm. The tasting and tour is RMB 188 per person, and you can book your spot by scanning the QR code in the poster above.

Jing-A's 9th Annual 8x8 Brewing Project

Jing-A's Annual 8x8 Brewing Project will be taking place from Oct 24 to 25 at the C7 Light Theatre just north of the 798 Art District. Now in its ninth year, Jing-A's 8x8 Festival provides an opportunity to for Chinese breweries to partner up with breweries from different countries and regions in order to make eight new exciting beers.

This year, eight Chinese breweries have been paired up with eight Scandinavian breweries; each collaboration will create a different beer, meaning there will be eight brand-new brews to try and a grand total of 136 beers to choose from during the event!

There will be four tasting sessions from Friday evening to Saturday, and you can see ticket options and pricing in the graphic below:
