Beijing CDC Tracking Close Contacts of the New Local Cases
As we previously reported, after maintaining 179 days of zero local infections, Beijing's streak is once again broken by the two newly discovered cases in Changping district — a couple who has recently returned from their trip to Zhangjiajie.
According to the information given by the deputy director of Beijing CDC at yesterday’s conference, health authorities have already located 654 potential close contacts related to these two cases and placed them into centralized quarantine under medical observation. Currently, the government is reaching out to the public to locate more potential close contacts.
How to determine whether you are a close contact
The aforementioned cases took cabin 5 of the bullet train G486 and got off at Platform 11 of Beijing West Railway Station at 21:26 Jul 25. They exited the station from the 1st North exit at 21:31. After that, they switched to the subway to head home.
First, they took Line 9 from Beijing West Railway Station to the National Library Station then transferred to Line 4 and got off again at Xizhimen Station for Line 13 and rode all the way to the Huilongguan Station.
According to health authorities, anyone who may have crossed paths with the couple on that day should report themselves voluntarily to your community, company, or hotels and cooperate with any necessary requests including but not limited to the nucleic acid test, quarantine, and other health examinations.
In the meantime, any other Beijing residents who have traveled or come from Nanjing, Zhangjiajie, and other medium- to high-risk regions from Jul 17, or had close contact with such individuals should report themselves to the local authorities and be ready for the health examinations.
In addition, health authorities are highly recommending that Beijing residents limit travel for the time being and do not leave the city unless necessary.
