USA! USA! USA! A Few Spots to Celebrate Fourth of July in Beijing
Fourth of July aka American Independence Day is coming next Tuesday! Whether you’re American or just fancy an excuse to party it up USA style, here are a few spots you can celebrate in the capital.
Independence Day Quiz at The Local
Bringing back their annual Independence Day Quiz after a brief hiatus due to Covid, The Local is all set to put your knowledge of the USA to the test. There will be prizes for first, second, and second-to-last place so it’s all to play for! The quiz will be taking place upstairs and entry is completely free, space is limited though so it’s best to book ahead by contacting Kenn on WeChat – just scan the QR code below to add him.
If you'd rather skip the quiz, they’ve also got plenty of food and drinks specials running from 4-10pm. Order a burger or hotdog and you can take it over to their condiment bar to customize it any way you like, plus they’ve got discounts on draft beer and frozen drinks.

Independence Day Bull Ride Contest at Home Plate BBQ
Yeehaw! This Fourth of July Home Plate is celebrating with a good ol’ fashioned mechanical bull riding contest. All you need to do is buy any drink and you’ll be given a ticket to ride the bull, the person who stays on the longest wins! First prize is a keg of beer, second prize is a bottle of Maker’s Mark, and third prize is a dozen coronas. They’ll also have drink specials running all day and if you buy any bourbon cocktail you’ll nab yourself some Jim Bean swag.

American Chamber of Commerce BBQ at Shangri-La Shougang Park
Delaying their Fourth of July celebrations until Jul 8 so that you can make a full day out of it, the American Chamber of Commerce is throwing a classic American barbecue. They’ll have tons of American food, chilled beer, multiple kids’ activities, a live band, and a raffle. Tickets are all-you-can-eat and drink, adult tickets are RMB 450 for members, RMB 550 for non-members, child tickets (ages 5-12) are RMB 250 and a family package (available for members only) is RMB 980, scan the QR code in the poster above to book.
