Booooze News: Frightfully Delectable Halloween Deals and Updated Happy Hours

Thirsty? Wet your whistle with Booze News, our wrap-up of the week's best bar deals, parties, drink concoctions, industry gossip, and more.

Pebbles Day of the Dead deals

As to be expected, this week is absolutely packed with Halloween frights, but when you're not scaring the bejesus out of your poor neighbors, you may want to get your fill of some delectably – and decidedly – real spirits. To celebrate the Day of the Dead (better known as Día de Muertos in Mexico), Pebbles is offering a range of drink deals between Oct 30 and Nov 3, including buy one, get one free on classic margaritas, palomas, and Aha Toro shots as well as RMB 10 off selected tequilas, mezcals, and Slow Boat draft beers. Finally, if you spend over RMB 150 on Oct 31, you and your table are eligible for free face painting before you head out into the night. Hopefully, it doesn't clash with the rest of your ensemble.

De Refter Halloween BOGOF beer

Courtyard 4's De Refter is also inviting the yet-to-be ghouls and goblins to receive free face painting between 6-8pm on Oct 31. Head over before 10pm and you can also get loosened up on buy one, get one draft beer before their costume contest and 88 free Halloween shots at midnight. If you don't make it over on Saturday, know that from Monday to Thursday, 3-7pm, draft beers are RMB 35, wine and bubbles are RMB 40 per glass and RMB 198 per bottle, house cocktails are RMB 40, while house mixers are RMB 30 from midnight to closing.

Drinking Buddies meetup

Subscription beer service Drinking Buddies will hold their first meetup in their new de facto home, the recently opened CBD beer bar Glou, on Oct 31. The event is open to members (free) and non-members (RMB 78) with all attendees receiving a taster glass of each of Drinking Buddies' six selected October beers (see above) as well as one free glass of draft beer. The tasting starts at 4pm, making it the perfect option for a little Halloween pre-game. RSVP here.

Bottega late happy hour

Finally, over at pizza aficionados Bottega, they've launched a new late happy hour between 9-11pm daily (except public holidays). During that time you can buy one, get one free on spritzes, negronis, gin and tonics, and prosecco.

Don't miss the best of Beijing's Halloween spooks here and here.

Hints From Heloise #629: "Get like totally s***faced falling down wasted on 20 kuai/liter erguotou at home. Then drink water with your buds at the bar. If you do this, you should have beaucoup cash left over to take home the two tarts of your choice!"

My former MO was to rent a hotel near the happening bar and slip back now and again to fill up my plastic cup with cheap booze until I found someone to take back to said hotel room. Cheap date. Yes I was.
