Raise a Glass to CBD's Best New Wine Bar Tchin Tchin
Let’s face it: Beijing is a beer town. Not that we're complaining of course, but sometimes the cascade of craft beer can leave us hankering for something, well, a little more refined. Those looking for a little beer break will find comfort in the altogether more relaxed alternative found in CBD’s Tchin Tchin.
This laid-back Central Park boasts close to 100 bottles and bucks the stereotypes of vineyard snobbery with RMB 60-80 by-the-glass options, a buy-one-get-one-free happy hour, and friendly, informative service.
Those deals are breezily presented by Hong Kong-born co-owner Peggy Chan, who provides an approachable and knowledgeable introduction to the wine list. She had plenty to work with during our recent visit, giving us a taste of a six-year-old Chateau Lateulurie (a Bordeaux white that she sells for RMB 268 per bottle or RMB 60 per glass) and a Spanish Monastrell Syrah (a red that’s also six years old that’s 398 per bottle or RMB 80 per glass).
You can expect to see the well-stocked wine list (and the four by-the-glass happy hour options) rotate and change regularly depending on what new imports Chan and her team can get their hands on. Between the wide collection, Chan's expansive wine knowledge, and the down-to-earth ambiance, Tchin Tchin looks to be in good stead to become a new favorite for winos in the CBD.
