EAT: Specials at Beyond Yakitori, Amanda Zhang x Little Creatures Brunch, Organic Market and Dinner at Opposite House

EAT: Your bite-sized guide to the best eats to be had in Beijing this week.

September Specials at Beyond Yakitori

One of our favorite Japanese restaurants, Beyond Yakitori, have come out with a series of specials to ride out the end of summer. Try diver-caught scallops wrapped in bacon, salmon and avocado tartare or – and this is the one we've got our eye on – tiger prawn and avocado tempura with homemade tomato salsa and tartar sauce. If you haven't tried deep-fried avocado then you're in for a treat.

Amanda Zhang Brunch Pop-Up at Little Creatures

Head to Little Creatures this weekend, Sep 22-23 for a pop-up brunch created by Amanda Zhang, host of video blog Sex in the Kitchen. On the blog, each week Amanda shares her life and love experiences while preparing a range of innovative dishes from around the world. For the brunch (available on Sat and Sun from noon-3pm), she has created a menu including coffee-crusted steak and eggs with roasted tomatoes and Cajun-spiced chips (RMB 208) and dark ale oven-roasted chicken with waffles (RMB 98 half, RMB 168 whole). There will also be happy hour prices on beer and wines, and gelato from Lingxia Gelato Lab will be available. Seating is limited, so scan the QR code on the poster above to RSVP.

Organic Market and Vegetarian Dinner at The Opposite House

As part of the Franco-Chinese Month of the Environment, The Opposite House is hosting two green events on Sat, Sep 22. Firstly, an ephemeral organic market featuring fresh and seasonal produce from around Beijing will take place at the Sunken Garden from 10.30am-5.30pm. Then, in the evening, French Michelin-starred chef Jérôme Laurent will prepare a vegetarian dinner at Bei Space using seasonal products from eco-friendly agriculture. The dinner is priced at RMB 458 per person and includes dishes such as green "Bouillabaisse" and pasta with truffles from Hunan. Book your place and pay via The Opposite House's official WeChat
