Sashay on Over to Salud's New Hutong Location; Soft Opening Party to be Held March 7

Despite the recent tumultuous construction and closures on Nanluogu Xiang, Salud's original location has not only survived that spate of shutterings, but the team is now opening a nearby second location in Fangzhuanchang Hutong with a spacious interior and balcony that affords plenty of room to cut a rug. The old location will mostly be a spot that serves snacks, while fans of its former party vibes can now head on over to this new location to order from the bar and enjoy dance parties.

Owner Lao Hu says the new location's soft opening will begin on March 7 at 7pm. He and his Salud cohorts wanted to have a second spot away from the touristy Nanluogu Xiang drag, where longtime customers can feel a little more at home. For that he chose the quieter Fangzhuanchang Hutong location, which is tucked snugly away in an alley west of the busier NLGX drag (accesss it by going to the end of Heizhima Hutong and turning south).

Fans of the original joint will find familiar features in this new spot, including a woodgrain decor (especially the bar, which is made of exotic Nanmu timber imported from Myanmar); Salud's signature house rum in flavors like apple, ginger, banana, and more at RMB 20 for a shot glass; and a sprawling 100-square-meter patio, interior, and small corner stage where local bands will be invited to play salsa, jazz, and blues to spark Salud's favorite dance parties. Sadly there won't be any live music during Tuesday night's soft opening party, but expect the bill to fill up in the near future.

The Salud will remain open at 66 Nanluogu Xiang. Now that the construction and revamping of the area appears to be just about done, it looks like the original location is safe. One upside to the temporary closure of that spot, despite the added stress to nearby managers and landlords alike, is that it obviously gave Lao Hu some time to create a whole new space for patrons to dance the night away, and for that we're not complaining.
