Backstage Pass: Dynazty
Sweden doesn’t have much of a reputation for heavy metal. Then again, who does nowadays? And so it’s with a sudden and inexplicable taste for nostalgia that we introduce you to the big-haired, eye-shadowed, self-professed sultans of sin, Dynazty.
The buzz
The Stockholm quintet is touring their third album throughout China in September on the back of a near miss in last year’s Melodifestivalen, a national competition which determines who will represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Key tracks
“Come Alive,” “Falling,” “Land Of Broken Dreams”
They say:
“We get a lot of haters for doing the whole Eurovision thing, but this is gonna make people realize that we actually play and we are just a heavy metal band.”
We say:
Thanks to ABBA, Eurovision will always matter – at least in Sweden. Let the haters hate, Dynazty.
