Nightlife Update: Steve Aoki Cancels Feb 26 Date

We've received word from promoters The M Agency that producer Steve Aoki's Beijing show at Tango, originally advertised for Feb 24 then later moved to Feb 26, has now been canceled. The press release reads:

"We are sorry to announce that the Steve Aoki Asia Tour will have to be postponed to later in the year due to cancellation of several other promoters included in the Tour. The M team will ensure reimbursement of presales - call 152 0166 5539 - or you can use the ticket for our next event, Vitalic on March 17. Steve’s management, and The M apologize for this inconvenience."

If you had already bought a ticket, hanging on to it for the Vitalic show might be a good bet - Vitalic is signed to Aoki's Dim Mak Records label and should be worth a look. Check out some of Vitalic's music at his MySpace page.

We'll see if Steve Aoki makes it over later this year, but this story gives some insight into the business of bringing international DJs and musicians to Beijing. Events are often only possible when tied in as one leg of an Asian tour - if one or two legs collapse, the whole thing can fall through, as has happened in this case. Ah well, onwards and upwards. Steve Aoki, we expect to see you here before 2011's out.
