will.i.am Concert Date Set

The will.i.am concert rumored to be in the works since this summer has finally been set. The show, to benefit and raise awareness for the 100,000 Strong Initiative, will take place on Saturday, December 17. The Black Eyed Peas singer will be joined in Beijing by fellow bandmate apl.de.ap, the Bucky Johnson Band and singer-songwriter John Legend.

will.i.am made the announcement in Los Angeles yesterday and a local organizer has suggested that the Beijing press conference for the event will take place later this week. The concert announcement was reportedly delayed while waiting on the go-ahead from the Ministry of Culture.

The 100,000 Strong Initiative is a government program that will work at increasing the number of American students sent over to China to study. The Beijing concert will be raising funds specifically for students from Los Angeles who attend the Mendez Learning Center.
