World Famous Snowboarding and Figure Skating Stars to Compete in the Capital This Weekend
Winter sports fans are sure to rejoice this weekend, as two high profile competitions are set to bring some top-notch athletes to the capital to show off their prowess on ice and snow.
The Air+Syle snowboarding contest, taking place this Saturday (Nov 19), will feature 30 of the world's top snowboarders like bronze medal winner Mark McMorristo and Sebastien Toutant, the latter of whom is the champion of a previous Air+Style contest held in Innsbruck Austria. American two-time Olympic gold medalist, Shaun White – arguably the most famous snowboarder in the world, ever – is a majority owner if the Air+Style contests, which have also been held in Los Angles. The Beijing rendition will also feature the EDM stylings of popular Chinese DJ's like Carta, Chace and Howie Lee. It will take place at the Olympic Bird’s Nest Stadium. Another event vying for the attention of winter sports fans is the penultimate ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Taking place from today (Nov 18) to Sunday (Nov 20), the competition boasts many of the sport's top stars such as Olympic silver medalist and triple world champion Patrick Chan from Canada, and several Mainland favorites like Boyang Jin, who won bronze in the 2016 World Championships and Han Yan, winner of the Four Continents bronze medal. Many fans will also watching American skater Ashley Wagner closely, with several news outlets saying that she is one of, if not the, favorite for the women's title.
