Spice Spice Baby: Behold the Hot & Spicy Fest Entertainment

This weekend there is no better place to be than Hot & Spicy Fest! We have a whole lot of entertainment lined up including our annual Chili Pepper Eating Contest, a “Cool-Lax Zone” complete with a misting tent to help cool off, live music, dancing and more! So, without further ado let’s dive on in and take a look at just what we’ve got in store!

Competitions

Chili Pepper Eating Contest

Back for its 13th edition, watch sweat and tears pour down the faces of contestants as they try to eat the hottest chili peppers we could find. Or, if you want to be more than just an audience member and think you have what it takes to become this year’s Champion of the Chili, there is still time to sign up but you’ve got to be quick the deadline is midnight tonight (Jun 24)! You can find more information about signing up in this post. The Chili Pepper Eating Contest will be taking place at 5pm each day. 

No Hands Pants Dance

You might have seen this viral trend online and the premise is simple: you’ve got to get your pants on without using your hands! Yep, wiggle and dance away to get those pants up and the first person to successfully do it will claim the crown! The No Hands Pants Dance will be taking place at 3pm each day.

Live Music

ALiEN RADiO

ALiEN RADiO is a three-piece rock band from across the Atlantic. Their music blends heavy riffs and atmospheric soundscapes, creating a cosmic fusion of acid rock, modern progressive, and post-rock influences. You can expect a mind-bending mix of soaring leads, crushing grooves, and unexpected shifts in tempo. ALiEN RADiO is a sonic adventure for fans of explorative original rock.

Mojito

Mojito is a band that's been shaking up the music scene as a well-established Latin band in China and abroad. The musicians forming the group are known for delivering a wide array of music styles, spanning from Latin Jazz and fusion to the infectious beats of the Caribbean like reggaeton, kizomba to the well known Latino American favorites like bachata, salsa, merengue, nad cha cha cha, among others. With great energy and amazing vibes they will bring the most authentic Latin and Caribbean flavor to the fest.

Sofistokated

Sofistokated is here to bring music with a punch. They are a hard rock band that plays a wide range of rock n’ roll, from indie to classic to heavy fuckin’ metal. They enjoy playing big hit songs from the greats, like Foo Fighters, Metallica, and ACDC, and are also currently in the process of writing their own music. The band is made up of Tim on drums, Will on bass guitar, Pedro on rhythm guitar, Luke on lead guitar and John on vocals. 

The Great Buffalo

Combining soul, funk, Americana and rhythm and blues, Great Buffalo continues to create a style all their own with songs like “Coming Home,” “Oh, The Pain,” and “Dream Song.” Their music celebrates stories and the idea that music can be a way to overcome anything on the way to positivity and joy. It honors the musical roots and at the same time integrates them and pushes forward. Great Buffalo is a collective of international players that have performed in major venues around Beijing, festival stages around China and in major cities around the world. They bring a high energy stage show guaranteed to keep you moving. The multi-national performers of Great Buffalo have a knack for transforming each show into a unique musical experience not to be missed.

DJ Arquitect

A regular at Beijinger events, Dairon Cardona, AKA DJ Arquitect, is a Cuban DJ and Music Producer and will be closing out the festival on Saturday. One of Beijing’s most popular Latin Music DJs, he plays a mix of Latin, Afro, Caribbean and house music to create great energy on the dance floor. Formerly a resident DJ at Nuo Hotel, the Inercontinental and Martini Terrace, he is known for his banging DJ sets and great charisma. 

DJ Ennoe Alpha

Another familiar face at Beijinger events, DJ Ennoe Alpha will be closing out Hot & Spicy Fest on Sunday night. Expect great tunes, loads of dancing and super high energy levels. DJ Ennoe Alpha joined the entertainment scene in 2018. He taught himself how to blend in mixed tracks from listening to superstar DJs and car radio stations in numerous DJ mixes, and has dominated the popular Afrobeat hip-hop and reggae environment ever since. He blends a mix of tracks from genres such as reggae, reggae dub step, Afrobeat, deep house and funky house. Aside from Beijinger festivals he’s played at other major events like the British Ball and at some of Beijing’s best music venues such as DADA, Modernista, Mango and more.

Dancing

Sazon Cuban Dance

Bringing an interactive set to the stage is SAZON Cuban Dance School, who have been delivering the most up-to-beat Cuban dance culture and trends to China since 2016. Sazon consists of professional Cuban dancers whose expertise is not only limited to Cuban dance but popular dance from around the world. When they perform there’s sure to be plenty of laughs and fun. 

Dance with C•Baila

A mixture of Cubans and Chinese, C•Baila will be inviting everyone to get up and have a good time at Hot & Spicy Fest! They use music, art and dance as a medicine and even though life can be a struggle, they try to enjoy every moment of it!

Cool-Lax Zone

Worried about the heat? Well don’t be! We’re going to have a special cool down zone where you can cool-lax! In collaboration with SNST, who are known for throwing banging pool parties in Beijing, we’ll have a misting tent, foam cannons and more fun ways to beat the heat! 

SNST will also be partnering with LTN to throw a Hot & Spicy Fest after party both days of the fest which is free entry for those who have a Hot & Spicy Fest wristband! The after party will take place at Mars Skyline, which is only a ten minute walk away from the festival venue.

Hot & Spicy Fest will be taking place at 30 at C7 Light Theater Outdoor Square, in Universal Creative Park (UCP) from 11am-9pm, Jun 29-30.
