Potential Line 3 Opening Date and Other Beijing Subway Stuff
Good news for Beijing public transit: we might just have a tentative opening date for Subway Line 3, all thanks to a somewhat related story on Chaoyang Railway Station.
Said article, first published by Beijing Daily and other local news outlets, mainly concerns the finishing of construction of the transportation hub in Beijing’s Chaoyang Station in September. The piece of news briefly mentions how passengers will be able to transfer directly to Line 3, which is set to open the same month.
As for other lines, especially Line 12 – which those in the know is often overshadowed by the coming of Line 3 despite its significance – we’re still in the dark in regards to that, though we have heard rumors it could be as early as June or July. Fingers crossed.
Elsewhere in the stations of the capital’s labyrinthine underground transportation network, you can now transfer from Line 4 to Platform 9 3/4.
This is thanks to an advert in East Gate of Peking University Station, which is done up like the fictional secret platform from the books used to access the Hogwarts Express. It’s one of many that’ve popped up to showcase a new Harry Potter-themed Redmi phone line, but it’s unclear if these phones have got any kind of magic in them.
Of course, if you’d rather indulge in a bit of KFC breakfast while on your commute instead of attempting to go to a magical school, then you’re in luck. We recently spotted a new KFC stand in Jintai Station, situated right near the transfer point from Line 6 to Line 14.
While this could be an attempt by KFC to compete with McDonald’s, who unveiled their own food-dispensing robots in some stations last year, we’ve not seen any other KFC stands around as of yet. Plus, it looks like it’s only open for breakfast on work days.
