Sweat For A Life Encourages You to Exercise for a Good Cause This Sunday, Jul 16
Prepare to get your sweat on for a good cause this weekend at Sweat For A Life! The event, hosted by ActivForever and Well-Being Lab gets Beijing's fitness-minded individuals together for a day of mindfulness and exercise with the goal of raising money for children in need.
But first off, who are ActivForever and Well-Being Lab? ActivForever is a community-based fitness brand hosting fitness events, group workouts, personal training, and other services aimed at supporting those who want to live a healthy lifestyle. Well-Being Lab, formely ComeUnity, is similar but with a greater focus on the internal, using coaching, mindfulness, and community activities to cultivate self-awareness, compassion, gratitude, and service.
The two organizers are more than a natural fit for an event like Sweat For A Life (SFAL), which is now entering it's third year. We recently spoke with the team behind the event to find out about its history, how they're raising money, and what's in store for this year.
Tell us a bit more about Sweat for a Life. How did it start and how far has it come?
Sweat for a Life started in 2020 as a charity project with the intention to help others and cultivate the importance to give back to those in need. We partnered up with a local charity organization known as The Children Hope Foundation with the goal to raise and donate funds for kids that are fighting terminal illnesses through wellness events. Today, Sweat for a Life is still on its mission to raise awareness of the importance of giving back, and consistently organizes charity events to help children in need.
What led to ActivForever’s partnership with Well-Being Lab?
ActivForever and Well-being lab founders Angelo and Juan have been longtime friends for over ten years. Seven years ago Angelo suffered a severe accident where he found himself unable to cover the medical costs of the treatment, it was through the help of friends and the community that the funds were raised and he has been forever grateful for it. Since then, he has been on a mission to give back to those in need and contribute to society. Juan genuinely believes that fostering a mindset where our actions are not solely centered around personal gain, but rather oriented towards serving and uplifting those around us is a fundamental part of living a purposeful life. In 2020 Juan shared with Angelo the idea to organize a charity event, and since then they have realized that their values are in line and have worked together towards this common purpose.
How much did the event raise in 2022 and what’s your goal for this year?
SFAL has been dedicated to giving back to those in need on a consistent basis for over three years. During this time, the initiative has successfully raised and donated over RMB 220,000 to help cover the costs of medical treatments for kids that are fighting terminal illnesses.
What sort of things are in store for SFAL this year in terms of activities?
SFAL has always been working consistently towards bringing new experiences. It combines different wellness elements like fitness, yoga, and mindful meditation for a holistic wellness approach. This year the event is packed with great activities featuring a yoga flow led by Taozi Tree Yoga, an energizing HIIT workout by ActivForever, and a relaxing mindful meditation session led by The Well-being Lab. Besides the main activities, SFAL has also prepared a raffle, a social brunch, and many more surprises!
What are your hopes for SFAL looking into the future?
Our vision for SFAL is to evolve into a vibrant lifestyle festival where various actors in the well-being space collaborate to create an immersive well-being experience. We aim to expand the festival by incorporating additional elements such as workshops, keynote speakers, panel discussions, and more. By evolving SFAL into a lifestyle festival, we can offer a comprehensive platform that caters to the diverse needs and interests of Beijing’s community.
