Young China Watchers present Hannah Ryder China-Africa Relations in Context
The buzz surrounding China's meeting with the 40-plus African heads of state at the beginning of September for the Forum on China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) may have died down but analysis of what the historic event means, especially for Africa, rages on. Pizza-Themed Quiz Night
I'll be the first to admit that pub quizzes are probably the last thing to leave you unhungover the day after, but this one comes with a slight twist in that it'll be stocked with 50-percent discounted pizza (6-10pm) to at least give you a solid foundation for any drinks that may be consumed. That and the fact that we're hosting it. Yes, that's right, the Beijinger is putting on a special pizza-only pub quiz at Paddy's in the lead-up to our Oct 13-14 Pizza Fest. So head along a test your knowledge on one of the world's favorite foods. Free. 8-11pm. Paddy O'Shea's

Stomp
The one and only musical to have made a trash can look vaguely exciting, Stomp (also pictured at top), returns to Beijing in a clatter of instruments that may or may not have been grifted from the local recycling plant. All kidding aside, since originating in Brighton, England in 1991, this performance has traveled across the world, winning over audiences with its blend of dance, music, and theatrical performance. Perhaps even more reason to see it: the show was discontinued in London at the beginning of this year. RMB 180-780. Until Oct 6, 7.30-10pm. Poly Theatre

Cangku Cinema Screening Day: "The Death of Stalin"
Finish the weekend and ease into the Golden Week holiday with this screening of The Death of Stalin. One of this year's best-rated movies, the Armando Iannucci-directed biopic uses humor to take a scathing look at the power struggle that ensued in the final days of the notorious Soviet dictator's rule, had all of his cronies been Western comedians gifted with the world's best bumbling wit. Stick around for a completely unrelated jam session. Free. 8.30pm. Soi Baochao
