Salsa Classes at Modernista

Modernista may not be the first place that comes to mind when you want to avoid a hangover, but their new Monday-night Salsa classes are a great way to have fun on the dance floor without having to liquor up (though you can if you want to with the Mojito happy hour). Hit the dance floor at 8pm, and if you don’t care too much about your bedtime then stick around for the reggae-salsa vibes of Savor Latino. Modernista. 8pm. Scan the QR code to register.

Get fit with Viv & Jazzercise

If the salsa dancing is a bit too close to a bar, then for the sake of avoiding temptation, burn those calories with jazzercise – up to 500 calories per class, to be precise, all to heart-pumping pop. BActive Sanlitun. 7pm, every Tuesday.

Poetry Night presents... Neo-Benshi

There’s nothing like a night of poetry to cleanse the soul, which is exactly why Spittoon holds poetry readings on a monthly basis. But this month, a very special twist is coming to Poetry Night as the event wraps up with a live voiceover poetry reading for “Neo-Beshi,” a movie featuring some poets that regular attendees of Spittoon Poetry Nights will be familiar with. Free. Camera Stylo. 8pm

Startup Community Breakfast

Whether you’re a founder, work for a startup, or aspire to become an entrepreneur, developing roots in the startup ecosystem is a must. Fortunately, that doesn’t have to mean attending lecture after lecture just to earn a few connections – the weekly startup community breakfast is a way to meet other innovators and key individuals within the community over a nice meal. Free to attend (doesn't include food or beverage). The Grand Summit. 9-10.30am

Jeremiah Jenne's The Incredible Life of Song Qingling

In honor of Women’s History Month, history expert (and longtime Beijinger contributor) Jeremiah Jenne will be guiding a 2-hour tour of the Song Qingling residence, offering visitors a chance to peer into one of the most consequential lives of the 20th century. From the fall of imperial rule in China to the rise of the Communist Party, Song played a role at nearly every step of the way, and her story is not one you’ll want to miss. RMB 320. Song Qingling Residence, 2p-4pm.
