80 Floors Up: Entry Now Open for China World Summit's 6th Vertical Run
Looking for a challenge this summer? Like sweating like you've never sweated before? Love reaching lofty heights and cramped staircases? Apparently, you're not the only one given that the China World Summit Wing is preparing to host their sixth Beijing Vertical Run on Aug 25.
The knee-blitzing event attracts runners from all over the world looking for a reason to run 82 floors up and is divided into amateur and "elite" divisions, the latter entrants scaling the 2,041 steps in as little time as 10 minutes. The record currently stands at 9 minutes and 47 seconds.
The reigning world champion, Piotr Lobodzinski of Poland, won last year’s male elite division by setting an overall fastest time of 10 minutes and 6 seconds and currently leads the 2018 Vertical World Circuit rankings. In the elite women's division, Australia’s Suzy Walsham finished in 10 minutes and 52 seconds.
China World Summit has been selected as the official race in this year's Vertical World Circuit (VWC) calendar. The year-long competition sees racers take on some of the world’s most iconic skyscrapers, including the likes of the One World Trade Center in New York City and Hong Kong's International Commerce Centre building. Competitors with the highest total scores at the end of the year will be crowned world champion.
