This Week in Health and Fitness: Tribe Organic x China Open, Run to Eat in Chaoyang Park
This Week in Health and Fitness looks at the latest fitness and health goings on in Beijing so you can live your #bestlife.
Organic restaurant and lifestyle brand (they would probably say tribe rather than brand ...) and frequent This Week in Health and Fitness star, Tribe Organic, has announced that they have been named the "official healthy food supplier" for the China Open tennis, taking place at the National Tennis Center from September 25 to October 9. They'll be selling grab and go versions of some of their most popular dishes, including the Bangin' Bulgogi Beef Wrap and Carrot Cake Donuts, from booths in the main food court and the prestigious Diamond Court. They'll also be running a cocktail bar during the tournament, offering their signature "healthier cocktails" to thirsty tennis fans.
Also look for Tribe Organic to open two new Beijing locations in 2017 at Solana (January) and the new WF Central lifestyle mall in Wangfujing (June), and also expand to Shanghai in March. We're happy to see a homegrown Beijing brand achieving this kind of success.
Now, as all good foodies know, the only point of exercising is so you can eat more without (most of) the guilt. Local lifestyle community and WeChat channel LadyPEK clearly understand this since they have organised a "Run to Eat" event at Chaoyang Park this Saturday, September 17. Meet at Chaoyang Park South Gate at 3pm for a run around the park, before heading back to organic eatery Napa for a five-course dinner, including sweetcorn soup, chicken wings, Caesar salad, and Napa's brand-new wood-fired pizzas. You'll also be treated/subjected to a ukelele performance during dinner. Tickets are RMB 198 per person if you buy in advance through their Weidian (which also has more event details in Chinese), or RMB 228 if you pay on the day.
Assuming that the weather pulls its usual "blue skies for the national holiday" turn around, then you may need a little after sun recovery after that run (or after your epic afternoon alfresco drinking session, I'm not here to judge). Luckily, one of our favorite spas in Beijing, the French managed and owned Kocoon, is running a September special including a soothing aloe vera Phytomer facial and an eye and lip treatment (RMB 600, 90 minutes). Managing Editor Margaux Schreurs recently picked Kocoon as one of Beijing's best spas in our September issue.
