EAT: Guest Chef Walter Potenza at Via Roma, Tim's Texas Opening Party, Tribe Nutrition 2.0, Hatchery Lunch Deal
With summer nearing in on us, it seems Beijing's dining scene is heating up too, and more and more events are being organized throughout the food and beverage industry.
First up, Italian-born America-residing Chef Walter Potenza, known as a passionate master chef and winner of numerous prestigious awards, is coming to Via Roma at the Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center to show us how it's done. During his visit, April 9-16, there'll be a special a-la-carte menu, as well as a cooking class hosted by him and Via Roma's Head Chef Francesco Sanna.
The cooking class will run Saturday, April 9, between 3pm and 5pm, and costs RMB 388 per person. You'll not only learn how to make gnocchi and other fresh pastas, but also how to prepare and match sauces. For more information about the special menu, check out the event listing here.
Second, Tim’s Texas Bar-B-Q's loyal customers will be relieved to hear that they are finally having their grand opening party for their new Central Park location on Friday April 8, which is not without its temptations. The party starts at 5pm, with a free mini barbecue sandwich for each guest, and unlimited Tsingtao draft beer until 8pm.
Third, for those looking to improve their eating habits, Tribe Organic has launched Nutrition 2.0, an improvement on their customized meal plan delivery service. New features include an accelerated slim plan, which is designed to aid quick weight loss. On top of that, there are now female- and male-specific portions in order to better meet dietary needs and provide a more accurate calorie ratio of nutrients in each meal. For those with special meal requirements, there are now also gluten-free and paleo options, and there's a weekday-only option for those who prefer to keep their weekends free for other treats.
And fourth, Hatchery's current daytime pop-up Soul Bowls project is still going strong, bringing a new lunchtime deal to the table that is bound to keep your spring vibes running into the week: one smoothie bowl of your choice and any freshly-squeezed juice, coffee, or tea for only RMB 75. The offer's valid between Monday and Friday, 11am-2pm.
Last but not least, a long weekend of brunching allowed for the discovery of a new brunch discovery: Mosto's grilled octopus risotto with saffron, curry, lime, and chives (RMB 128), which was even better paired with sunshine and a plethora of Spanish wines. A dangerous but delicious combination that we can't wait to retry.
