Turkey Hunt: 2015 Thanksgiving Dining Options in Beijing

[Updated Nov 24: We're now up to 52 selections for Thanksgiving over on our Events page] While the traditionally American holiday of Thanksgiving has not quite taken Beijing by storm the way Christmas and Halloween have, it's not far behind. The flurry of celebratory options increases each year, and in the run-up to its November 26 date, we are rounding up all the best Turkey Day options we can find, from potlucks, to fancy dining, to stay-at-home set dinners. We will keep this list updated as we get closer; and in the mean time, keep your eye on thebeijinger.com/events/thanksgiving for the most up-to-date listings.

EATING IN

Eudora Station
Good for Lido-based families, Eudora Station are offering a Thanksgiving set for six to eight people priced at RMB 998, including the bird itself, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, mashed yams, and one pumpkin pie. Order at least one day in advance, free delivery within 2km. Eudora Station

Factory (by Salt)
Experienced caterers Factory will whip you up a turkey and trimmings with a choice of dessert (fruit cake, pecan pie, or pumpkin cheesecake) for RMB 1,500 for six people. Order two days in advance, adding RMB 200 for delivery in downtown Beijing or RMB 300 for delivery in Shunyi. Pick-up is free from their location in 798. Factory (by Salt)

Four Seasons
Let Four Seasons ease your Thanksgiving burden, with their traditional turkey dinner to take away RMB 1,488 (plus 15 percent service charge) per set, which will serve six to eight people. Turkeys available Nov 22-29, 48 hours notice required. Four Seasons Beijing

The Cut at Fairmont Beijing
Put down that turkey baster and leave the culinary stuff (or stuffing) to the professionals. Fairmont's turkey delivery (RMB 1,988 plus 15 percent service charge) includes a 6-7kg bird, with stuffing, gravy, roast veg, and cranberry sauce. Order 48 hours in advance, free delivery within 5km. Lily's American Diner
Old favorite Lily's will delivery you a ready roasted turkey for RMB 109/kg so you don't even have to worry about turning on the oven. Sides, including gravy, cranberry sauce, and mashed sweet potatoes, are RMB 25 per person. All home delivery orders require a 50 percent deposit, which must be paid before November 24. Delivery is free close to their restaurants, after which there may be a small delivery fee. Lily's American Diner

The Local
If you are a group of six to eight people, The Local will prepare you a Thanksgiving feast (RMB 1,800) featuring pumpkin soup and cheddar biscuits, a whole roast turkey, sides (including gravy, cranberry sauce, potatoes, and vegetables), and pumpkin pie. (this option is also available to dine in). Rager Pie
You'll still have to faff about with the turkey, but at least Rager Pies can take the stress out of dessert for you. Order homemade pecan and pumpkin pies through their website, ragerpie.com. Free delivery on orders over RMB 200 and within 10km. Rager Pie

Village Cafe
The Opposite House's Village Cafe have a wide range of festive treats available, including pre-roast and ready-to-roast turkeys, gammon, gravadlax, and pumpkin pie. Order four days in advance, 50 percent deposit required. Village Cafe

DINING OUT ON THE DAY

American Steak and Eggs
Self-proclaimed servers of free range turkey since 2003 American Steak and eggs are offering up a simple three-course menu with a choice of turkey or ham for the main event. They also have whole cooked turkeys and homey-baked hams to take away. RMB 129. 6-9pm. 

Aria
Cozy up in Aria's sumptuous atmosphere for a superb five-course dinner, with an optional wine pairing from their sommelier for RMB 200. RMB 688. 6pm-midnight. Aria

Aroma
Enjoy a typical Thanksgiving dinner, alongside seafood selections and global buffet choices, all washed down with free-flow wine and beer. RMB 668. 6-10pm. Aroma

Blue Frog
A good option for casual diners, Blue Frog's simple Thanksgiving dinner includes turkey with corn bread-sausage stuffing and other traditional trimmings. Add a slice of caramel pumpkin pie for RMB 35. RMB 195. 4pm-midnight. Blue Frog 

The Big Smoke
The Big Smoke are serving up their annual Thanksgiving feast, featuring turkey and sides with a Southern US twist. Pay for your turkey according to the number of people in your party then tack on a la carte sides to share. From RMB 180 (2-3 people). 6pm. The Big Smoke

The Brickyard
The Brickyard is serving up a family-style Thanksgiving feast with roast turkey and traditional sides, and a whole buffet of homemade desserts. Return transport (not free) is available for those without private cars, or treat yourself to an overnight stay (RMB 2,388), which includes transfer from Beijing, superior queen room, and Thanksgiving dinner for two. RMB 388. 5-8pm. The Brickyard Retreat Center at Mutianyu Great Wall

Conrad Beijing

Craft @ Crowne Plaza Beijing Lido

CRU Steakhouse

If you'd rather dine in at Eudora Station than order their turkey take-out, they will oblige with a Thanksgiving set dinner for four people, with five hearty courses including turkey and all the trimmings. RMB 790 (four people). 6-10pm. Eudora Station

Feast (Food by EAST)
A good value option for people who don't want to go too crazy with the food on Thanksgiving, Feast are offering a three-course menu of pumpkin soup, roast turkey, and pecan pie. RMB 188. 5.30-10.30pm. Feast (Food by EAST)

Food Studio (Renaissance Wangfujing)
Renaissance Wangfujing's all-day dining restaurant Food Studio presents a classic Thanksgiving dinner, complete with roast turkey, roast pumpkin, green bean casserole, and more. RMB 308. 5.30-9pm. Food Studio

Jing-A and Traitor Zhou's
Jing-A Brewing are teaming up with Traitor Zhou's for a non-traditional Thanksgiving feast of fried chicken with a generous spread of Cajun-inspired side dishes. Kerry's Kitchen
Gather together over a bountiful buffet of traditional - roast turkey and trimmings – and less traditional – roast beef short rib – dishes. kids get free access to the Adventure Zone play area. RMB 238. 6-11pm. Kerry's Kitchen

Lily's American Diner
As ever, Lily's is offering one of the best Thanksgiving deals in town, with a three course menu including turkey and sides, plus a choice of homemade pies. Available at all three Lily's Locations. RMB 159 (includes a glass of wine). 11am-10pm. Lily's American Diner

The Local
The Local is serving up a vertitable feast of Thanksgiving dishes, from pumpkin soup to roast turkey to sides such as brown butter mashed potato and vanilla-bourbon glazed carrots. A vegetarian option is available. RMB 268 (advance), RMB 288. 6-8pm. The Local

Loft Eatalicious
Loft Eatalicious' four course menu kicks off with canapes, before moving on to an Italian-inspired starter, the turkey main event, and finishing with an apple tart. Wine by the glass available at RMB 30. RMB 188. 11am-11pm. Loft Eatalicious

Nuo Hotel Beijing

Q Mex
Courtyard 4's Q MEX are celebrating Thanksgiving with a homey (and might we add, good value) three course menu that includes a choice between roast turkey and roast beef for the main course. RMB 198. 5-11pm. Q Mex

Raffles
have a French-flavored Thanksgiving at Raffles' Jaan restaurant, where chef Cyrille will be serving up a gourmet four course menu including prawn and avocado cocktail, and slow-cooked turkey breast. RMB 428. 6-10pm. Raffles Hotel Beijing

Ramo
Ramo's Thanksgiving feast includes turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. Mulled wine available at RMB 25 per glass. RMB 100. 7-10pm. Ramo

Seawolf
A good option if you happen to be in Changping, Seawolf will be offering a buffet of healthy options, including imported turkey from Utah, as well as giving an explanation of Thanksgiving for Chinese guests. RMB 229. 6.30-9.30pm. Seawolf Eatery and Distillery

Scene a Cafe (China World Hotel)
Scene a Cafe's buffet may be seafood focused (good for lighter eaters) but there will be plenty of turkey options available too. RMB 398. 6pm-midnight. Scene a Cafe

The Smokeyard
The Smokeyard presents their first ever Thanksgiving, with a buffet of roast turkey, creamed corn, green bean casserole, and more. Come early for the best bits of turkey. RMB 258, RMB 198 (online special). 7-10pm. The Smokeyard

Tribe
If you're tired of turkey (or don't eat turkey in the first place), try Tribe all-pumpkin three-course set menu for a healthy twist. They're also giving thanks to regular customers with 15 percent off all food items. RMB 128 (set menu). 9am-10pm. Tribe Organic

Union Bar and Grille
Union are keeping it simple for Thanksgiving, with a four course menu featuring Caesar salad, pumpkin soup, roast turkey with giblet gravy, and apple pie. RMB 260. 11am-11pm. Union Bar and Grille

Nov 22, 29: Thanksgiving Brunch at Opus Lounge
