Gallery Watch: Paparazzo of the Anonymous, Blurred, Out of the Box, Oblivion, Artists at Play
As always, our beautiful city is full of events and goings-on, especially with Beijing Design Week 2015 at its peak (these are our BJDW recommendations), but art exhibitions are easily overlooked as there are so many opening and closing, it can be easy to miss them.
These are our selections for those looking for places to soak up art during the next few weeks. Make sure to get there before the exhibitions close!
Artists at Play
Artists at Play is a group exhibition from Beijing artists Wang Guofeng, Zhou Wendou, Ma Sibo, Wang Lijun, Tian Qi, and Sun Yitian. Work displayed covers all genres, focusing on fun and leisure. Expect loads of vibrant colors and pieces full of emotion. Tue-Sun 10am-6.30pm until October 16. De Sarthe
Out of the Box!
Red Gate Gallery proudly presents 40 budding young artists' work from this year, all belonging to the post-80s 'Me' generation. Artists' are not constrained by dogma, and their refreshing aesthetics are full of fantasy, imagination, and creative fresh styles. Daily 9am-5pm until September 27. Red Gate Gallery
Paparazzo of the Anonymous
Paparazzo of the Anonymous by world-renowned Israeli photojournalist Alex Levac is an exhibition with some of Levac's most famous pieces, taken in different cities throughout Israel, curated by Shosh Dagon. The photos are incredibly insightful, showing the interesting normality of daily life by different types of people throughout the country. Daily 10am-6pm until October 15. C-NA Gallery
Xiao Yu: Oblivion
Xiao Yu’s latest solo exhibition presents a series of recent works, focusing on the comtemplation of the human condition over the past two decades, using multiple visual expressive media and inviting audiences participating into the thinking of their own situations. The exhibition consists of three sections: forget, think, and dream. Tue-Sat 10am-6pm until October 24. Pace Gallery
Julia Hofmann: Blurred
Newly rebranded Gulou favorite Zarah presents Julia Hofmann’s work, focusing on the human existence: searching, trying, worrying, and questioning. Her work presents the dilemma between living life in the fast lane, as we so often do in Beijing, and taking it easy. Daily 9am-2am until November 13. Zarah
