Great Leap Brewing Launches 'Collective' on Wednesday, Chili Cook-Off Set for Saturday
On Wednesday, April 8, Great Leap Brewing launches the 'Great Leap Brewing Collective" at all three of its locations. Only 88 Collective memberships will be available at each location.
For a RMB 300 initial fee per person (cash only), each member receives their own, larger than normal size beer mug, kept at their selected Great Leap premises. Each beer purchased is a larger pull. Members also receive invitations to private events and beer tastings, and VIP pricing on events that have not sold out. Renewal is RMB 100 per year, but the fee is waived if the member drinks 100 beers during that year.
Wristbands are available from the time each respective location opens, with registration beginning promptly at 5pm. Each person in line may register themselves and one friend.
Great Leap also marks the beginning of warmer weather in two ways this coming weekend. On Saturday, April 11, the unofficial beginning of spring, the 4th Annual Back Alley Chili Cook-Off (Marge, I'm missing the cook-off!) brings 14 top chili chefs (confirmed, one space still available) together at Great Leap's original Doujiao Hutong location, doling out samples of their 20 liters of chili. Attendees receive samples of the available chilis, two beers, and voting rights, for RMB 150 per person. The event starts at 2pm, with the winners announced at 6pm.
Great Leap Brewing #45 Brewpub on Xinyuan Jie also breaks in its rooftop deck this weekend, with the air finally warm enough to merit some al fresco drinking and dining.
