EAT: Dining Deals to Sink Your Teeth into this Week

It was a relatively quiet week last week for us here at EAT, but one event we did enjoy was EAST Beijing's April Fools promotion, featuring "Four Michelin-Starred Chef" Michael Faulkner serving up traditional British dishes like bangers and mash, and fish and chips (pictured above).

Of course, foodies will know that there is no such thing as a four Michelin-star chef, and those who known him will know that Michael Faulkner is actually EAST's general manager. This is what I love about EAST, they are really willing to get involved with fun promotions and move away from the classic image of hotel service and hotel dining. Long may it continue!

Don't miss Great Leap Brewing's 4th Annual Back Alley Chili Cook-Off this Saturday (April 11). Fifteen of Beijing's best chili cooks will be serving up their best recipe (using only ONE imported ingredient makes for some interesting substitutions we can tell you), and you can try them all (plus two beers) for RMB 150.

Finally, for chilies of a different type, head over to Intercontinental Beijing Financial Street where they have invited Chef Lim Meng Seng from Penang to cook for the "Feast of Penang" food festival. Penang is known for its vibrant, spicy dishes of Malaysian, Chinese and Indian origin, so don't miss this one if you are in the area.
