Celebrate International Cassette Tape Day With 87FEI87, Dong Dong Music Festival and Convention

You may have thought that cassette culture faded into format obscurity a long time ago, along with other revolutionary products like laser discs and Fun Dip, but you would be very much mistaken. This Saturday is International Cassette Store Day, and the supreme music fetishists of Beijing will be celebrating in full force at The Other Place (4-9pm).

There will be a boom box hooked up to the courtyard main PA, and an open deck policy for anyone with a cassette in hand who wants to show off their favorite tunes commited to magnetic tape. This combined with a fresh compilation from local Skwee heads 87FEI87, featuring Mesak and Claws Costeau and some delicious brews will set your thirst for various mental and musical nourishments at ease.

You can all start looking forward to the Dong Dong Music Festival and Convention, set to go from November 26-29, with over 30 bands and 150 music professionals from China and abroad. Some of the visiting artists include Cheveu (France), Mendetz (Spain), Astrio (Spain), Sun Glitters (Luxembourg), and CALLmeCAT (Denmark).

For those of you more interested on the inner workings and industry secrets of the music biz in China, they will also have a large array of workshops, presentations, and discussion panels examining topics like DIY Entrepreneurship, Touring in China, and music companies in the digital age. Keep an eye open for future updates and lineup amendments as November quickly approaches, also check out their website for more info on the festivities.

The problem is you advertise this stuff too late. I would like to go, but you should advertise this last week. I should be reading this a week ago. Then I can plan to attend.

Why does the Beijinger tell you what is happening now instead of letting us know what will happen in a few days? I have ALREADY made plans.

HINT: POST THESE EVENTS EARLIER.
