Talking Pints: Get Drunk (And Learn How to Make a Proper Cocktail) at Migas
The Bar at Migas is offering a mixology class every Tuesday where award-winning mixologist, Francesco Angotti, teaches you how to make six classic cocktails. I joined in last Tuesday so I could tell you about it, but to be honest, I don't remember much. It started off smoothly – we learned all the basics needed to impress our friends at home and then created a simple mojito. After that, things started to get a little fuzzy ...
I kid. But seriously, I left Angotti's class with a better appreciation of those who make my drinks. Especially those that require a lot of shaking. Who knew that it took so much upper arm strength to make cocktails topped with a beautiful layer of egg white foam?
Can you guess in the photo below which foamy drink was my creation?
RMB 500 gets you instructions for making six cocktails (and you can drink your creations, of course), and a bag of the tools you need to recreate them at home. To reserve a spot, call 5208 6061.
In other news, 4corners is hosting their third bar breaking party this Saturday night to make some changes to the floor plan. They want you to help wreck the bar (and get wrecked) so they'll have deals like RMB 10 shooters, RMB 20 bar rail shots, and RMB 5 off all beers.
Sister bar and restaurant Q Bar and Q Mex announced Saturday they would be taking on new management that was formerly responsible for a new look at Luga's Villa. So what does that mean for Beijing's margarita scene? Read more here.
I don't know about you guys, but you'll probably find me at Migas terrace opening party tonight or at the Shuangjing Block Party and Chili Cookoff tomorrow, but there is plenty of other great happenings around town (YEN White tonight!), even in the wake of a three day holiday. We have Wednesday night event listings for those celebrations here.
Don't forget, voting is now open for our 11th annual Reader Bar and Club Awards, so head here to access the ballot.
For more in Nightlife, see our events listings here. And check back every week here for more news on Beijing's bar and club scene.
