Happy weekend. Now for a couple of days to enjoy the sunshine. We'll get to what you can do this weekend shortly, but first for some booze news.

Don't miss the last ever Monday night quiz at The Bookworm next week (Jul 22). The theme for the last hurrah will be "Z," so expect zombies, zebras, Zidane, zoos and erm ... zephyrs.

Cu Ju is gearing up for its first Sailor Jerry Tattoo Party on Wednesday night (Jul 24). Lashings of rum and a tattooist – what could possibly go wrong?

Don't forget: Modernista is closing for some renovations until September on Saturday (Jul 20), but they won't shut the doors quietly. Their last night will feature a performance from Mademoiselle et Son Orchestra, then Enough of Samba DJs will continue the party till late.

JACKD, a new bar in Tongli Studio, held it's opening party last night. Might be worth checking out if you find yourself in that neck of the woods this weekend.

Aice Lu, of Face Bar, finished second at last week's Pernod Ricard China Bar Legends competition held in Shanghai. Luke Lu of Apothecary finished third. The competition included a written examination, which included questions to test their knowledge of cocktails and spirits, and also the histories and culture of the brands within the Pernod Ricard portfolio. Then the cocktail-making kicked off. The finalists were asked to make a cocktail with random ingredients and then one classic. Only four bartenders made it through to the second and final round, in which they had to create an original drink and a classic twist.

Not a bad effort from the local boys. Might be worth stopping by Face Bar or Apothecary this weekend to say congrats and sample some of their wares.

The lads over at 京A have been in touch to let us know about a pop-up they're doing at Lush next Wednesday (Jul 24). It'll coincide with the regular weekly Lush Quiz Night and they tell us it will "prove, once and for all, that yes, beer does in fact make you smarter."

Regular bash This is Lantern continues at Lantern tonight, too.
Bed Bar announced that it was closing last week, but it's not going to take it lying down – they've planned a whole month of events to say goodbye to the veteran hang out. Starting tonight.
Resident STDJs R3, Linfeng and Ado8 will be joined by the infamous Bobby Dropper tonight at Dada.
Tomorrow night (Jul 20), The Bar at Migas hosts Sanlitun Vice, a Miami Vice themed party.
Sunday is Belgian National Day. There'll be few better places to celebrate the fact than at Beer Mania, on Saturday night.
