TEDxBeijing Readies 'Old City, New Soul' Event for July 13
Idea fest TEDxBeijing returns on July 13, with a five-speaker event themed "Old City, New Soul."
"As Beijingers, we will listen to Beijingers who are slowly changing the fabric of the city around them, so that we may be aware of how it changes us," the event's website said.
The five speakers are: Jesse Appell, a Fulbright Scholar whose research focuses on understanding Chinese humor through performance art; Shannon Bufton, an Australian with a background in architecture and urban planning; Lilly Bussmann, a student at Oxford University, co-founder of the Chinese design enterprise Bundshop.com and is working for the United Nations’ Development Programme in Beijing this summer; Jon Kaiman, a Beijing-based reporter for The Guardian, covering China’s culture, politics and environment; and Li Tiantian, the founder of DXY.cn, the largest physician online community in China.
The event will be held at the 798 Art District's 751-D Park, off Jiuxianqiao Lu, and runs from 2pm to 5pm. Admission is RMB 100 at the door. Space is extremely limited, and pre-registration is required. Click here to register.
