Learn – How to Read a Chinese Menu

If you’re keen to get beyond just pointing at the photos in a Chinese menu – or perhaps want to get past your fear of reading a menu without any photos or English for help – then mark your calendars for this Wednesday night (Jan 8). From 6-6.50pm, the Culture Yard, via a free Zoom class, will be teaching participants the common characters on a Chinese menu, how they’re organized, and, most importantly, how to order your next meal with ease. Scan the QR code in the poster to join.

Listen – Spiritual Jazz, Ill Considered at Blue Note

British jazz band Ill Considered is bringing their signature mashup of jazz, afrobeats, soul, funk, and more to Blue Note Beijing this Saturday night (Jan 10). Not a show to miss for jazz lovers or those looking for a sound that’s a little bit different than what you’re used to. Doors open at 6.30pm, and the show starts at 8pm, tickets are RMB 328+ and can be booked by scanning the QR code in the poster. You can read more details here.
