Living La Vida Local: Actress Wang Luodan's Burning Red Knees
Living la vida was a little more "loco" than "local" on Weibo this week. Chinese actress Wang Luodan rocked the Internet with a photo of her red, sore knees and an explanation that translates as: "I've always felt this was the only way to show you have ever loved." Well, honey, sore knees certainly indicate you have loved or "been" loved (on the carpet), as it were.
The Shanghaiist reports that Wang's stated reason for the sore knees was a grueling dance rehearsal for an upcoming film. In that case, her explanatory caption could be telling us that she loves her job enough to suffer a little pain. A typical statement in a country which values self-sacrifice at work. Or, if you'll allow me to indulge: the ability to endure a little sting for the good of one's unit.
But seriously, who on earth is naive enough to put a picture like that on their social media feed? Is she clueless? Has the actress never been privy to a romp on the rug? Or is she just good at getting attention? As of last evening, the photo had been reposted 134,669 times and received a whopping 83,029 comments.
Aside from the predictable comments insisting Wang was laid by He-Man himself, I find the most interesting ones to be the people who don't seem to (or are pretending not to) get it at all. "What is the meaning?" one girl posted. "It's just two legs. What's that got to do with love?" said another.
What do you think Wang's intentions were? Is she innocent or purposefully looking for attention? Let us know in the comments below.

If that didn't turn you on enough, here is a list of community events coming your way in Beijing this week:
A film editing course for beginners is being offered by Luma Lu this Saturday and Sunday. (Read our review of their classes.)
Beijing Improv is giving a bilingual performance for charity on Saturday. Should be a hoot.
Training on how to leave China with your pets is being given by ICVS this weekend. And a six-week puppy-training course starts on Sunday at Green T. House Living.
A free meditation class is being offered at Yoga Yard on Sunday as well. These only happen twice a month, so make sure you get there early for a spot.
