Fish Suppers: Beijing Fish & Chip Guide

Beijing's been lucky enough to enjoy authentic British weather since the Olympics started. Which got us to thinking: Are there other British delights in town that can help us feel like we're at the Games? Where's a chap to start? Well, today's Friday and for Brits that means one thing: fish supper (or chippy tea, as it's known round my way). While Beijing may not be able to compete with Brighton or Blackpool when it comes to chip shops, we've options enough for a whole week of fried fish and potatoes. Let's tuck in.

Little Britain – Lido's littlest local is a passable effort at RMB 68.

Village Cafe – The Opposite House's Friday-only fish fryery is said to be well worth the RMB 88.

Fish Nation – A Beijing classic: fish and chips for just RMB 35.

Kiwi Fish N Chips – This newcomer to the fish scene eschews the batter but it's the cheapest in town at RMB 30.

Black Sun – Pub grub by the park at a not-out-of-plaice RMB 40.

Brussels – Your choice of baked, battered or breaded. Usually RMB 78 but you can enjoy it for RMB 58 on Fridays.

Paddy O'Shea's – They must fancy their fish to charge as much as Village Cafe (RMB 88), but bar aficionados rave about the large portion size.
