Beijing International Music Competition
This weekend the illustrious Beijing International Music Competition begins and will feature cellist from across the globe. Beijing classical music lovers can check out the competition taking place until November 1.
2010 marks the Competition’s third year, and each competition features a different instrument. In 2010 the cello takes center stage. Taking place at the Beijing Concert Hall, the competition is divided into three rounds and will feature classical, contemporary, and Chinese works.
The 44 contestants come to Beijing from across the globe, and represent the top talent from the world’s best music universities and orchestras, including Julliard, the China Philharmonic, and the Paris Conservatoire National Suprerieur. The 12-member jury is equally as impressive and international.
The main Competition will take place October 23-24, October 26-27, and October 29, with additional events throughout the week. See here for the full schedule.
