New Openings: Golden Banana Restaurant & Bar

Although Thai restaurant Golden Banana is several months old, the venue’s lounge only recently opened. The bar’s main strength is its design. Woven-back barstools give the place a classic feel, while the ebony bar wraps around into the main dining area.

Beers like Budweiser and Tsingtao are RMB 30, but the tasty Brauhaus German draft (light and dark, RMB 38) is the highlight. Piña coladas, daiquiris, mojitos and margaritas (RMB 45) are also sprinkled throughout the drink list.

Upstairs is an impressive wine cellar and private rooms for hire, one featuring a large balcony with a lakeside view. With all this, Golden Banana does just enough to dodge the stigma that tends to come with a “bar street” location.
