Mexican Standoff: Luga's Villa vs The Rickshaw

Undercover informants posing as waiters? Thieves behind bars? The Global Times reports today of a bitter burrito battle between The Rickshaw and Luga's Villa over intellectual recipe rights and underhand sales tactics.

The Rickshaw owners claim that former employee Luga (real name Zhu Xun), ripped off his recipes when he broke away to open Luga's Villa and says the reason why The Rickshaw regularly changes their menu is to stay one step ahead. Luga claims the Rickshaw concepts were partly his to begin with.

The weird offshoot of this feud is that The Rickshaw - longtime home of rowdy student parties, late-night sports and Jagermesiter - is cleaning up its act and going upscale, with electric candlelight, tenderloin sliders and a wine list.
