The ambience is really nice and relaxed. Two stars for it.
My friend told me it is a "spanish restaurant", but the place serves everything from pasta to steaks to foie gras to mexican food---this is already a good sign for another Beijing fail in so called "Western food".
The main course we ordered was chicken fajitas, one of my all time favorites. The chicken was simply tasteless, and came in huge and hard chunks. Even with the peppers and onions, the overall taste was just so plain. I wondered if the chef forgot to put any salt in it at all. The salsa was pretty tastelss too. The sour cream was mediocre, and no beans were offered.
At the end of the meal, my friend ordered "焦糖冰淇淋". She just told the fuwuyuan what she wanted so I didn't have an opportunity to look at the menu, and I wasn't sure how it was written in English, but it should be either "burnt sugar ice cream" or "caramel ice cream". Anyway, what we got was a vanilla ice cream scoop topped by fruits and a tiny bit of chocolate syrup. It's neither made by burnt sugar, nor topped by caramel.
I can't say that I will never go there again. My friend enjoyed her meal so much so what should I say? Tell her bluntly that I hated it, that it is hershey's chocolate syrup (15 kuai a bottle), not caramel, that it doesn't make any sense for them to charge this mislabeled shit 45 kuai? Sometimes we cede our tastes to our friends and keep going to the places we hate, and that's exactly how those shitty places in Beijing survive.
The best part of the meal was my Corona.
