Had an OK experience, Called on a sat afternoon to make a reservation. The girl that answered the phone seemed to care less and hung up before I was even able to tell her my name. haha, I had to call back to make sure we would have a table...once we got there it was obvious that no care was taken to ensure a table for us ..but no matter, we got a seat.
The food: We ordered 2 kinds of burgers the bacon cheeseburger and the plain one. ..old fashioned?(something like that)..When they arrived at the table first thing that stood out was the fries..Goddamn mcdonalds fries!!! super lame.. the burger was ok nothing special but ok. I think if more effort was put in ...like, use better\make fresh fries and a little better burger to bun ratio..this place could really stand out.
The beer: WE tried 4 diffrent kinds of beer, the IPA was the pimp of the bunch and even though it was missing the citrus of a real american NW style IPA..It was enjoyable. The honey ma was fun, But a few sips is enuff for me..the other 2 where forgetable..I felt, as did my fellow dinner that the beers in general could benifit from a more solid identity.
The restaurant it self is awesome, great wood floors, big sunny windows and all the brewing equipment is on show!
I would give 2.5 stars if i could, but 2 does not seem fair...With some more love could be an easy 4!

Re: "missing the citrus of a real american NW style IPA" -- you are aware there are a vast array of IPA styles out there, right? Not all of them are going to, nor should, taste the same. Thank god they do not...

HAHA..I have tried twice now to reply your comment ...the beijinger does not seem to be working well or my internet sucks!
The very short version ...I dont belive you are aware of what a flavor profile is..The flavor profile of an American ipa has a citrus finish..They bill their IPA as an American style IPA..I think its even called American IPA.. I found it curious they left it out. So I commented on it...Not sure if it was a mistake or done on purpose...Only the beer maker would know.
I dont think "vast array" is correct. I am pretty sure there are only a handfull of commercially used IPAs ...There is mos def home brewers making all sorts of crazy beer ..I even made a crazy IPA before using belgium yeast (was trying to make an IPA with chimay type carbonation).. if that is what you mean?
No one said anything about want all beer to taste the same!
thank god:)

Re: OK, could use a little more love.
Firstly, you didn't specify which IPA you tried -- they make several. By not remembering the name, I'm not sure how serious to take your review. Secondly, your reply may be worded correctly but your initial description of how an IPA should taste is too narrow. Yes, there are IPA -- even APAs -- that taste citrusy. Certainly IPAs, no matter they are brewed in the PacNorthwest style, are not so narrowily defined. Surely not news to you (but perhaps it is, as your "there are only a handfull [sic] of commercially used IPAs" makes no sense). Your actual opinion of the beer is irrelevant to me. I am not defending the (nameless) beer you tried, but merely defending the type of beer known as IPA against the narrow portrayal in your initial review.

Re: OK, could use a little more love.
WELL SORRY for you not taking my beijinger review sooooo supperrr seriouslllyy!! hahaha..
There was only one IPA at the time of my visit ..The American IPA or something like that..What an a**hole I am for not remebering the extact name!
Ok, tell me the vast array of IPAs being made?
If my opinion of this beer is sooooo irrelevant, then why take the time the leave not one but 2 comments?
I have worked as a sommelier and as a wine distrubuter...we also sold beer ..inparticular micro brews from the west coast..I have had well over 200 diffrent kinds of IPA..some are really similar most are very diffrent in taste, body, finish, front, back, and all around! You know what 90 odd % of these beers have in common?? I will let you guess.
I have not pigeon holed this beloved beer. Simply, as i said giving my opinion about a beer. ( That I liked BTW)
Perhaps instead of defending things that most definitely dont need your defence..like the mighty IPA. Focus on your narrow mindedness of a simple review.
Thank god:)
