We ended up here last tuesday during an instantly regretable trip into Sanlitun.

Originally we had planned to eat at Flamme but it was Chaos in there with people waiting 15 minutes just to see a menu (they didn't have enough for all tables). It was the same story everywhere else due to the change in the weather and in the end the only spare seat in the Village we could find was at Cantina.

The atmosphere was ok, though you got the idea most people were there as a last resort.

On paper the menu looked good though the prices reflected the usual 50% 'bubble tax' levvied in this godforsaken part of the world.

The food and drink was by far the worst mexican I have had in Beijing, and probably anywhere. Even the Saddle was better than here and they set the bar impressively low.

The margherita was undrinkable, and tasted like a large amount of salt had found its way into the drink from the rim.

Every dish we had was horrifically bland and not as described on the menu. The quesidilla was like cardboard and the tortillas were soggy. We had a few meat dishes that all tasted the same because they were drowning in cillantro.

I'm would give one star but that would be unfair to the floor staff who looked like they were trying to make the best of a bad situation and who were generally friendly and efficient.

Safe to say we won't be returning
