I was expecting significantly better food from Maison Boulud based on its high ratings. The Dungeness crab terrine was bland and underwhelming, with a cold mushy texture and none of the fragrance that comes with fresh crab. The duck main was overcooked and too dry. The chocolate souffle and creme brulee, however, were both stellar. I've eaten at a lot of places, and the souffle was the best I've had--rich, warm, and melt-in-your-mouth. The madelines were also lovely--light and airy.

The dining room is beautiful, the service was excellent, and Maison Boulud is definitely worth trying. However, at 700+ a head, most of the food just wasn't wow-inducing or return-worthy.
