Temple's swell. It's always got a quality band, at least one that's worth hearing, and enough friendly people to give the place a real lively comus-like feel. You better not mind smoke if you're going to linger for a while, but then again the miasma of cigarettes results in a crowd of crackers catching air outside, which makes Temple easy to find. The service is quality and cocktails legit. Tons of seating, if that's how you prefer to enjoy rock bars, and standing room in case you like to linger or mosh. They've got this terrible habit of getting shut down by the fuzz for jamming loud and late, but even without the music there'll be a good crowd unlike a lot of rock bars where folks vacate as soon as the last band struts out.
If you're looking for rock on an odd night in central Beijing, skip yugongyishan and Mao Livehouse's spurious covers and come rock out with your cock out at Temple.
