Review of Cedar's
3

For a light meal in Sanlitun at about 50kuai a person this place is nice.

We had chicken shwarma, falafel wrap, hummus with bread and an avocado salad. The shwarma and wrap were very small and the shwarma had soggy french fries wrapped in the pita with the chicken, it was a bit weird. The flafel was tasty but the pita bread wrap was a bit dry and tasteless. The hummus was very good, the avocado salad did have a lot of avocado in it and was yummy with a good lemony dressing but it was 90% bell peppers and onion which I didnt personally like. The sad serving of 6 french fries which comes on the side of the sandwiches were translucently soggy and undercooked.

The Lebanese (I'm assuming) guy who works there was kind of rude and weird and a bit off-putting, but both Chinese staff were great. The place was empty and awkwardly quiet, they need some music and some atmosphere to make eating less uncomfortable.

I hope they do well and make some adjustments because I really want to love this place.

Our bill was 115kuai for 2 people with 2 sodas.

Personally I'd say both the lamb and chicken shawarma are the best I've ever had outside Beirut - and it's nice to have proper khobz bread in Beijing. For authenticity Cedar's is deffo the way forward in Middle Eastern cafes in Beijing.

Really?

French fries inside the shwarma is authentic?
I have never been to Beirut but we have a massive Lebanese population in Australia as well as Turkish, Israeli and Greek and I like to think I have a pretty good idea of authentic shwarma and kebabs of all variations. I have never seen fries in the wrap.
