Review of Annie's

Don't understand how this restaurant with this italian microwave food can be so populair! The delivery service is even worse!
Tried Annie's 3 times because their the only one's with an English speaking staff but it's always dissapointing overpriced tasteless food! It's always cold And crappy! Don't believe the 5star reviews that can't be true or those people have a really bad taste.

Bullshit.

Annie's is reliable and dependable.

It's not amazing, but it's never bad and the delivery service is good.

Overpriced? You must be poor or incredibly cheap. It's the most reasonably priced Italian-style place in the city.

Yup. Bullsh*t.

Annie's get to my door in 25 minutes after picking up the phone, every single time. The food is always the same, reliable, belly filling food. they always speak English (and know the Italian food names). I also really like the delivery guys, they are friendly, enthusiastic, try to speak some English and seem genuinely happy when you speak Chinese, I always tip them because they really understand service.

No, it isn't great Italian cuisine.
It is cheap!
48 Kuai for large pizzas, 35 kuai for large pastas. How can you call that expensive?

Food to get:

Pepperoni Pizza
Quattro Formaggi Pizza
Capricciosa Pizza
Risotto
Cream of Mushroom Soup
Tortelloni di Pollo
Penne Arrabbiata
Quattro Formaggi Pasta
Melanzane Grigliate con Ricotta (Stack of eggplant with ricotta cheese)

Food to Avoid:

Most of the appetizers. They are not worth the money, the smoked salmon is dry and old and the cold meats are yuck.

The Salad dressings. Their Salads are ok but the dressings are always gross, they use weird tasting olive oil in the vinaigrette, I throw it out and use my own balsamic mix.

Fusilli con Funghi Porcini (Mushroom pasta) Its really inedible, I don't know what they do but it tastes funky.

Their Mixed Grilled Meat Platter and anything with lamb. They get cheap lamb and cook it badly, terrible. Most of the chicken mains are good but the red meat, they screw up.

Moral: Use them for what they are; cheap, easy, convenient, food for when you cant be bothered doing more than pressing a button on your phone. Stick to basic pizza and pasta to avoid disappointment.

To the original poster: have you ever lived in SHANGHAI?
I ask because I lived in Shanghai for a period of time and I missed my Annie's reliability and value - every night I was there.
In Shanghai, all delivery pizzas from Sherpas start at RMB 88 but typically run RMB 125. In Shanghai, if you order food to be delivered, it is VERY easy to spend RMB 200+ per person...
Annies has salads for RMB 15 (used to be RMB 10 for the small green/Caesar).
What can you buy in Shanghai for RMB 15? Not even a side of rice at a Shanghai Mexican restaurant!!!
ANNIE'S OFFERS TREMENDOUS VALUE!
Also, I think their pizzas taste better than Kros or Gung Ho.
Also, my food NEVER arrives cold.
Have you tried their Chicken Picatta? It's delicious.

Annies is so dependable its almost superfluous to defend them. There has never been a better delivery service in the entire Earth's history of delivery services.

I agree with Bottle o that their salads are not very good, but you'd have to really be a curmudgeon to complain about much else. It may not be spectacular food, but Annies surely makes Beijing a much better place to live in.

We live in Shunyi - so I contact the Lane Bridge restaurant. We're far out so it takes about 50 minutes but the food is of good quality and still piping hot.
Tonight the delivery man was soaked through but was still his cheery self. Service is fantastic. We live near to Pinacle plaza where there's plenty of options to choose from but think Anne's is well worth the wait.

Annie's success has been totally due to their ability to speak english, not the food.

The OP is actually Annie's competition..

But to be honest their pizzas suck. Never had a good one (not factoring in price)

However I'm happy with the rest of their menu. I go there a lot. Even their bottled wines are not overpriced.

we love Annies for a variety of reasons.

you need to remember where you are,
maybe you should:

1- improve your chinese
2- consider leaving

like i always say... china isn't for everyone
