I’m not quite sure what to make of Blue Frog. I think I can only describe it as the perfect example of a chain restaurant.
The décor is nice enough but very conservative and inoffensive. It could well have been designed by someone who usually works with hotel room interiors.
The staff are young, slightly amateurish but put some effort into service, suggesting their manager does take their duties seriously and probably gives them regular pep talks.
The menu looks quite exciting and was almost certainly formed by calculating the twenty most popular dishes from America’s hundred most popular restaurants. The prices certainly are not cheap but the effort put into producing this panacea of popularity gives some confidence that the chefs should prepare the dishes competently.
I chose eggs Benedict (80RMB) and got a blackcurrant soda with it. I was asked if I wanted my drink with “less ice”, which I did on such a cold day – not being an American I also do not have an absurd and unwarranted devotion to frozen water.
The meal was acceptable, though the eggs were quite cold and there was only a smidgen of hollandaise sauce which was unable to offer a great deal of flavour. The soda was very good.
Asking for the bill produced a slightly confused expression and the question of whether I wanted “the check”. The nationality of the manager is hardly in question, though I have yet to make my mind up as to whether I will give Blue Frog a second chance

Re: Do not know if like
I met the manager and had the same thing you did on the same day. That's spooky.
As for the manager, he's British and very nice. I found our waitress to be a bit too curmudgeony though. THEY screwed up and brought us two eggs benny and then, for a second she was going to try to make us pay for both. Sure sign of a Nong Fu Wu Yuan.
Eggs were okay, as you said, not a lot of flavour and it was on rye bread instead of a proper English muffin .
