The shop keepers generally are rude if you are just browsing.

The restaurant operators are just plain dishonest.

Doesn't matter if you are a laowai or not, anyone who doesn't speak their dialect gets taken to the cleaners there.

Stay away. A better alternative is to go to Shanhaiguan further up the coast. Not as crowded and you can get there by the bullet train from Beijing.
