Must try

With the cheapest set menu at RMB588 per person, this is not for the faint of heart, but its well worth it. Its not a spot you go to often, but its a must try at least once during your time in Beijing and you'll probably find reasons to return to this restaurant. You stumble across the entrance, which is hard to find to begin with, across the street from Zhongnanhai. The staff is very helpful and the room you have is yours for the night. No matter which room you're in, you can ask to see the lunch box the chef used to take to Mao on a daily basis. The food is amazing, there were a few misses but everything looked beautiful and even the misses were pretty damn good. This is one of those restaurants that you can only find in Beijing, a unique experience that everyone should check out.
