While East Beijing has some great buffets because of the number of western companies in the Chaoyang area, in the West there is Cafe Cha. In the back of the Shangrila Hotel, it has a great variety of fresh and delicious food and it has a more refined clientele than some other local buffets. That is, you wont have some people cutting in line or taking all the crab claws in one grab. Here you can eat slowly, sip good champagne, look out at their beautiful traditional garden. The only negative is the price, not cheap, so you may feel some pressure to eat a lot to try to break even. You can do it. Hey, after all that eating, it's always nice to take a walk around the garden. And for those who have to make room for more, their bathrooms are really clean with all sit-down toilets.
