Bored? Nothing to do? Head to the park! I spent the day at Honglingjin Park and found plenty to do with scarcely any cost other than time. People watching is of course an all-time favorite, as with any park, the ancients gathered to play a spirited game of shuttlecock, the children ran around playing on the various playground equipment which doubles as workout equipment, and families spread their blankets on the concrete for a pleasant picnic under the trees. If this doesn't appeal to you, rent a boat for under 100 RMB and take it for a spin on the lake. The lake is huge, so exploring every corner of it will definitely kill a few hours and if you choose a paddle boat then you will be sure to get in your exercise for the day. You can also walk around the park and enjoy the flowers and trees or stop by a snack shack for a yummy ice cream or bag of nuts.
