Review of Dolar Shop

Just had lunch of four there today at You Town's (Chaoyangmen) branch.

Base soup choice offered was more interesting than usual hotpot choices offered elsewhere. The air-cond worked reasonably. You get to mix your own sauces from a large range of seasoning and ingredients, which is very nice and unique. They also serve complimentary icy cold water with nice tinge of lemon flavouring. There was wifi available as well if you need to check your email.

The food was very well presented, and very fresh, absolutely no complain there. The serving staff was sufficiently responsive without being over bearing, although one staff member removed my wet towel before I was finished with it without asking, and another rather comically said "give it to you free" as she handed out quality paper napkin (restaurants in Beijing customary do not charge for napkin). The environment was modern and fresh, the lighting soft.

I'm not sure what the total bill of our meal was, but I estimated by looking at the menu to be around 200 RMB for four people (we didn't drink beverages off the menu), which is not too bad compared to some other premium hotpot places I've been to.

I recommend it.
